The Origin Story

So here's how it went down - three architects walked into a coffee shop on Queen West in 2011. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, right? But Marcus, Sarah, and I were tired of designing cookie-cutter condos that didn't give a damn about the neighborhoods they invaded.

We wanted to do things differently. Create buildings that actually breathe with the city, y'know? Places where people don't just exist but actually thrive. The kind of spaces that make you forget you're in a concrete jungle.

Fast forward to today - we've got a team of 23 passionate folks who genuinely care about leaving Toronto (and beyond) better than we found it. Cheesy? Maybe. True? Absolutely.

Our Journey

The milestones that shaped who we've become

2011

The Beginning

Started in a 600 sq ft loft with nothing but laptops, determination, and way too much coffee. Our first project? A community garden pavilion that barely paid the rent but taught us everything.

2014

First Big Break

Won the competition for the Junction Community Hub. People said our eco-design was "too ambitious." We proved 'em wrong. That building still runs on 60% less energy than code requires.

2018

Going National

Expanded to Vancouver and Montreal. Also won our first national award for the Riverside Mixed-Use Development. Started teaching sustainability workshops because, honestly, we couldn't keep this stuff to ourselves.

2022

New Chapter

Moved into our current Queen West space - designed by us, obviously. Launched our heritage restoration division after Sarah wouldn't shut up about saving old buildings. (She was right, as usual.)

2024

Recognition & Growth

Hit 50+ completed projects. Got featured in Azure Magazine for our work on the Waterfront Innovation District. But honestly? The real win was seeing families move into affordable housing we designed that doesn't look or feel "cheap."

2025

Looking Forward

We're pushing into mass timber construction and circular design principles. Got three major urban renewal projects in the works. The dream? Make sustainable design so normal that nobody calls it "sustainable" anymore - it's just good architecture.

What Drives Us

Real Talk About Sustainability

We're not slapping solar panels on roofs and calling it a day. Every project starts with "how can this building give back more than it takes?" Sometimes clients think we're nuts. Then they see their energy bills.

Community First

Buildings don't exist in a vacuum. We spend time walking neighborhoods, talking to people who'll actually use the spaces. Your input matters more than our egos - and that's saying something for architects.

Beauty Meets Function

Why choose between gorgeous design and practical living? You shouldn't have to. We obsess over both until they work together seamlessly. Sometimes it takes 50 iterations. Worth it.

Junction Community Hub

This one changed everything for us. A gathering space that runs almost entirely off-grid and brings the neighborhood together. Still get messages from folks who use it daily.

2014

Riverside Mixed-Use

Residential above, shops below, green roof on top. Convinced the developer to include affordable units. They thought it'd hurt sales. Opposite happened - place sold out in weeks.

2018

Waterfront Innovation District

Our biggest project yet. Transforming 12 acres of underused waterfront into a living, breathing tech hub that doesn't feel like a sterile office park. Opens next spring.

2024

The Team Today

We've built something pretty special here - a crew of architects, urban planners, sustainability nerds, and design geeks who actually like coming to work.

No hierarchy nonsense where only partners get to have ideas. Junior designers pitch directly to clients. Our interns' concepts have made it into built projects. When you respect talent regardless of tenure, magic happens.

We do Friday afternoon walks through current projects, monthly design challenges (last month's theme: "architecture for cats" - don't ask), and we close the office for a week every August so everyone can actually recharge.
